Model Workers - Cry 7"

Model Workers were a post punk band from Gateshead who were around in the early 80's.

Believe some members had been in the Village Idiots before this band and one of the members of Model Workers brother was in Total Chaos.

They self released this 7" in 1981 on their own label, Make It Yourself and want to say there were 500 copies? I do know they came in pink, yellow and blue sleeves.

I've seen one copy on sale on Discogs for around £500 and a mate of mine is still gutted the day he saw in in a local shop a few years back for around £40!

As mentioned you get 2 tracks (4 on the reissue!) of angsty post punk tunes maybe edging a bit towards New Wave/Power Pop.

It did get a reissue back in 2023 by Sealed Records, this time with two extra tracks which came from the Model Workmanship Demo. There was also a Pre-Release edition, it was basically the reissue with Pre-Release stamped in red ink on it, that was part of The Garage/The Station/The Bunker Exhibition (Tyne & Wear Music/Youth Collectivism from the 1980s and beyond…) at The Newcastle Centre Of Contemporary Art with ran between 18th November to 16th December 2023. Which was a great exhibition and the first time I actually saw the original copy of this release on display!
